Innisfil Beach Park Master Plan
The Town of Innisfil's Innisfil Beach Park (IBP) Master Plan sets a bold, long-term vision to revitalize our largest urban park. The IBP Master Plan provides a guide for ongoing investments in the park, which will result in new gathering and social spaces, cultural programming opportunities, and enhanced natural resources.
Our vision
Our vision is to make Innisfil Beach Park:
- An accessible space where residents and visitors feel welcome
- A connection between Lake Simcoe and Innisfil's downtown commercial area
- Vibrant and well-utilized all year round
- Sustainable with enhanced natural features
IBP Master Plan Development Process
- Public feedback from surveys, open houses and casual conversations with residents helped guide the development of the IBP Master Plan.
- Innisfil's staff and council identified a need for a comprehensive review of Innisfil Beach Park. An initial draft vision was prepared by staff and approved by council in May 2019.
- In summer 2019, the Town gathered feedback from the community through numerous consultation events, including online surveys and public open houses at Innisfil Beach Park. A community engagement report was prepared to summarize the results of the consultation campaign.
- Town staff revised the draft vision using the results from the community consultation.
- On June 24, 2020, Innisfil Council approved the Innisfil Beach Park Vision.
Innisfil Beach Park Implementation Plan
Council approved the Innisfil Beach Park (IBP) Implementation Plan and Final Concept on March 24, 2023. The IBP Implementation Plan is the next step in moving forward with the design and construction of park improvements envisioned in the Innisfil Beach Park Master Plan 2020.
Initiated in the fall of 2020, the purpose of the IBP Implementation Plan was to:
- Complete environmental background studies
- Prepare five alternate park design concepts for community input that would ensure:
- Adequate servicing for future recreational facilities and amenities
- Improvement to traffic flow through the park for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists
- Plan appropriate phasing of the park improvements
Final Concept
Based on the IBP Master Plan and public input, the Final Concept contains 49 projects phased over the next 20 years. The improvements include connections into the park that will ease traffic congestion, beach area enhancements, and new amenities in underutilized areas to maximize the use of the parkland and increase local park use during off-peak times.
