The Electoral Engagement Advisory Committee (EEAC) reviews how the Town engages its residents in municipal elections and makes recommendations for ways to encourage voter and candidate participation. Committee members will:

  • Review previous election-related practices of the Town and other similar municipalities
  • Engage, consult and communicate with Innisfil residents and key stakeholders
  • Develop electoral engagement options and recommendations for Council’s consideration

Your Voice, Your Vote Survey

Help us understand the reasons behind low voter turnout and improve voter and candidate participation in future municipal elections. The EEAC will use this information to develop a Communication and Engagement Strategy ahead of the next Municipal Election on October 26, 2026. Background

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario reported an average voter turnout of 36.30% in the 2022 municipal elections (based on 385 municipalities). This was down from 2018 outcomes (38.30%), and overall, is the lowest turnout at the municipal level since 1982. In Innisfil, voter turnout was only 24.26% in the 2022 municipal election.

The Electoral Engagement Advisory Committee was approved by Council as part of a broader Municipal Elections Engagement Plan. The recommendations provided by its members will help to improve future election outcomes by ensuring all eligible electors are informed, educated, and encouraged to vote.
