Innisfil is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Canada. While we celebrate what makes our region great, we recognize that not every resident enjoys the same quality of life. The solutions to social problems are complex and require us to think, plan, and partner in non-traditional ways.

The Town shares a commitment to addressing the risks and needs in our community and strengthening our collective efforts to support community safety and well-being.

Community safety and well-being means everyone is safe, has a sense of belonging and opportunities to participate, and able to meet their needs for education, health care, food, housing, income, and social and cultural expression.

South Simcoe Community Safety and Well-Being Plan

In Ontario, every municipality is required to implement a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan under the Community Safety and Policing Act.

We've refreshed our South Simcoe Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan in partnership with the Town of Bradford West GwillimburySouth Simcoe Police Service, and community partners to tackle tough social issues at the individual and community levels.

Areas of focus

Based on local data and community partner engagement, the updated plan will focus on:

  • Housing and Homelessness
  • Mental Health and Addiction
  • Access to Services and Supports

The 2025-2029 CSWB Plan includes five strategies to guide our next steps:

  1. Strengthening Pathways Out of Homelessness: Improves safety and stability through better housing access, outreach, and referral supports.
  2. Transitional-Aged Youth Services Network: Supports the coordination of youth mental health and addiction services across agencies as an initial area of focus.
  3. County-Wide Phased Data Approach: Builds a practical, collaborative foundation for sharing data to guide decisions and measure the progress of CSWB activities.
  4. South Simcoe CSWB Collaborative: Strengthens cross-sector coordination by bringing partners together to align efforts, share insights, and take joint action on shared priorities.
  5. Police and 211 e-Referral Pathway: Connects individuals with non-emergency needs to community services through a direct e-referral made by officers to Ontario 211.
