The Innisfil Heritage Advisory Committee provides advice and recommendations to Council on local heritage matters relating to the Ontario Heritage Act. This includes the preservation and conservation of buildings within Innisfil that have been deemed historically, culturally or architecturally significant to the community.

Members volunteer to help:

  • Promote and educate local residents on heritage issues within the Town
  • Regularly review and identify potential Heritage properties
  • Advise Council on potential Heritage designations

Innisfil Heritage Walk

The Innisfil Heritage Advisory Committee invites you to explore the rich history of Stroud this fall season. Take a walk down memory lane and learn something new about the local landmarks that make up your community. The walk will take place on October 5, 2025 from 12 to 2 p.m. starting at St. James United Church at 2230 Victoria Street.

This free, family-friendly event encourages Stroud neighbours and history enthusiasts alike to  hear stories about special spaces in their neighbourhood and get to know one another. Participants can expect to learn about notable heritage properties in the area, the families that helped establish the Village, and municipal heritage matters. The event will run rain or shine.

Heritage Committee orientation session

Community Heritage Ontario (CHO) joined the Innisfil Heritage Advisory Committee for an orientation session. CHO is a provincial umbrella organization and advisory body for Municipal Heritage Committees. Their mission to to:

  • Be an advocate for heritage in Ontario
  • Encourage the development of municipally-appointed heritage advisory committees
  • Further the identification, preservation, interpretation, and wise use of community heritage locally, provincially, and nationally
