Blue-green algae bloom confirmed: Lake Simcoe, Town of Innisfil

SIMCOE MUSKOKA – A blue-green algae bloom has been confirmed on the southeast shoreline of Kempenfelt Bay (Bear Point area) and the southwest shoreline of Lake Simcoe (Innisfil Beach Park area), Town of Innisfil. The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is encouraging residents and visitors to exercise caution.

Road closures due to flooding

Update (July 11, 2:38 p.m.): All roads have been reopened.

With the significant rainfall last night, Town staff have been dispatched for flood management operations since approximately midnight. The following roads are closed due to flooding as of July 11, 2024 until further notice: 

  • Buchanan Street from 9th Line to Crystal Beach Road
  • Goodfellow Avenue from 9th Line to Crystal Beach Road
  • Maple Road from Belle Aire Beach Road to Spooners Road
  • Tall Tree Lane from 9th Line to Crystal Beach Road

Road closure: 25th Sideroad (Leslie Drive to Park Road)

25th Sideroad is temporarily closed from Leslie Drive to Park Road today (June 28) due to an unanticipated watermain repair. InnServices expects repairs to be complete by approximately 12 p.m.

Construction impacts at Crossroads Park

Improvements are coming to Crossroads Park in Alcona! The project includes:

  • Resurfacing of the sports courts
  • Extending the existing asphalt pathway to connect the courts to Oriole Crescent
  • Fencing repairs and new park benches

Work is scheduled to start July 2, 2024 and is expected to conclude near the end of the month. The courts will not be available during construction, however, the playground will remain open. 

Road closure: Lebanon Drive (25th Sideroad to Raynor Court)

Lebanon Drive from 25th Sideroad to Raynor Court will be closed on May 27, 2024 at 7 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. on May 28, 2024 for utility connections.
