Road Permits
Anytime you are doing work on a roadway or occupying that road, including making changes to the boulevard or ditch portion of your driveway, you must get permission from the road owner.
The Town of Innisfil issues a variety of road permits that grant you permission to use our roadways. If you are not sure if you are making changes to a town-owned road, please review our road jurisdictions, or contact us at 705-436-3710 for assistance.
Review our Roads By-law and the permit information below to learn how to apply.
Half load restrictions
Half load restrictions (By-law 017-01) are typically in place from March 1 through May 1 for all Town roads. County of Simcoe roads in Innisfil are also subject to reduced load restrictions. Commercial vehicles cannot exceed a weight of 5,000 kilograms per axle, unless they meet the exceptions under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
Oversized load permits
You need an oversized load permit if your vehicle, load dimensions or weight exceeds the limits set in the Highway Traffic Act. View our Oversized Load By-law for complete details about weight and size restrictions on municipal roads. During half load restrictions, oversized load permits do not apply.
We need five business days to process your application.
