Innisfil, ON – Effective immediately, the open-air burning ban in the Town of Innisfil has been lifted.

The ban, in effect since July 28, 2025, was enacted due to prolonged dry conditions across the municipality. Following recent rainfall, fire risk levels have decreased enough to permit safe, responsible burning to resume.

“Although the fire ban has been lifted, we urge residents to remain diligent and take every precaution to reduce the risk of uncontrolled fire,” says Deputy Fire Chief Carla MacDonald, Innisfil Fire & Rescue Services. “Safe burning practices help protect our community and our environment.”

Residents wishing to have an outdoor fire larger than 0.5 metres must obtain a burn permit and comply with the Town’s Fire Burning By-law. When burning outdoors, residents are reminded to:

  • Check the fire danger rating and only burn in safe weather conditions
  • Be considerate of neighbours, as smoke can travel and affect others nearby
  • Select a safe site with proper setbacks from structures, trees, and fences
  • Always keep water or other means of extinguishing the fire close by
  • Fully put out fires before leaving the area

Fireworks remain prohibited without a permit outside of designated holidays.
