Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil is rallying community support for the Troy Scott Community Fridges this holiday season with a new December Days of Giving campaign. The campaign runs from December 1 to December 31 and offers suggestions of different food and essential items to donate each week:

  • December 1 to 3 – Fresh produce
  • December 4 to 10 – Breads and pastries
  • December 11 to 17 – Non-perishables
  • December 18 to 24 – Frozen foods
  • December 25 to 31 – Personal care items

Residents and local businesses are invited to participate in the December Days of Giving by donating and sharing their contributions on social media using the hashtag #FeedInnisfil.

“The Troy Scott Community Fridges have highlighted the increasing food insecurity in our community and been a valuable resource for our residents,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “We’re incredibly inspired by how many community members support their neighbours in times of need and we hope Innisfil residents continue to contribute when they can this giving season. Every contribution helps!”

The Town launched the first community fridge in June 2021 as a neighbours helping neighbours initiative to increase access to nutritious food and support community food security. The outdoor community fridge intended to offer residents 24/7, low-barrier, dignified access to food. Since then, the Town has renamed the project to honour the memory of resident, business owner, and community builder Troy Scott, and established two additional community fridges and pantries. The three Troy Scott Community Fridges have seen over 10,000 food and essential items donated and distributed to Innisfil residents.
