Mayor's Business Breakfast highlights growth, investment, and collaboration in Innisfil

Innisfil, ON – More than 120 members of the local business community gathered this morning at Three Feathers Terrace for the annual Mayor’s Business Breakfast. The event brought together dignitaries, business leaders, and community partners to network, share ideas, and hear about the latest developments shaping Innisfil’s economic future.
The program began with remarks from Mayor Lynn Dollin, followed by a keynote economic update from Robert Lavigne, Executive Vice President, Economic Research, Finance & Strategy at OMERS. Lavigne offered valuable insights into broader economic trends impacting municipalities and businesses across Ontario.
The Mayor highlighted significant achievements over the past year by the Innisfil Economic Development team, including:
- Securing competitive grants that bring new resources into the community.
- Continuing progress at Innisfil Heights, a 1,600-acre employment area attracting new major employers such as DSV Global Transport & Logistics and Northern Transformer Corporation, together creating roughly 400 local jobs.
- Supporting local businesses through Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) initiatives like job fairs, newcomer workshops, and Shop Local campaigns.
- Expanding entrepreneurial supports through DMZ Innisfil, a partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University’s DMZ Accelerator. This past year saw Innisfil DMZ’s largest cohort yet, with 27 new companies and the launch of a new DMZ Alumni Program to help graduates continue scaling their businesses.
- Launching Innisfil’s new tourism and culture portfolio.
“All of this work helps ensure that Innisfil is a place where businesses want to invest, entrepreneurs want to grow, and families want to stay,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Every time I see a new local business open its doors or an entrepreneur take that next big step, I’m reminded of how much pride and talent we have right here in Innisfil.”
The event concluded with a panel discussion and networking session that enabled local business leaders to share their experiences, establish new connections, and learn more about upcoming opportunities outlined in the Economic Development Strategic Plan.
