Innisfil, ON – The damage from the fire at the Innisfil Recreational Complex (IRC) is still being assessed.

The facility, which also houses the Innisfil branch of the YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka, will remain closed for minimally another week while restoration efforts are underway.

“We recognize this is difficult and inconvenient for people who use the facility,” says Nicole Bowman, Director of Operations, Town of Innisfil. “However, this extended closure is the best decision to ensure we can continue to work on the necessary repairs.”

While the assessment and remediation continues, the Town does not have a total damage cost nor a timeline for re-opening at this point.

The Troy Scott Community Fridge outside the north entrance of the IRC is back to normal operation. Community members are welcome to donate to or access this community fridge once again.

Residents are encouraged to follow the Town of Innisfil on its social media channels for updates.
