Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil is excited to announce the return of its annual Pitch-In Day on Saturday, May 13. This community-wide initiative calls on people to take part in a town-wide clean-up by collecting litter from road edges, public trails, parks, and road ends.

Volunteers can pick up clean-up kits including garbage bags, gloves and a safety tips sheet at Innisfil Town Hall and Innisfil ideaLAB & Library branches during operating hours. On May 13 from 9 to 11 a.m., community members can also pick up a kit at the following Innisfil Fire Stations:

  • Station 1 – 780 Innisfil Beach Road
  • Station 2 – 1214 20th Sideroad
  • Station 5 – 740 Big Bay Point Road (outside the front doors)

Mayor Lynn Dollin encourages residents to participate in Pitch-In Day, saying, "Keeping our community clean and healthy is important, and this annual clean-up event is a great opportunity for us to work together and showcase our town pride. I hope to see many people out there on May 13, pitching in to help Innisfil look its best!"

Following the collective effort to keep Innisfil clean and beautiful, participants are invited to join an appreciation barbecue from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Centennial Park (2870 7th Line) for free refreshments, food, and entertainment.

Once again, the Town is awarding the “Golden Broom” to the member of Council that has the highest level of proportionate participation in their ward. To help determine the level of community participation, people are asked to register online.

The Town extends its appreciation to the Pitch-In Day Committee for its dedicated support of this event each year and to all participants for pitching in. For outstanding citizens who go the extra mile, the Debbie Mills Civic Pride Award is accepting nominations until the last Friday in May. This award recognizes an individual, group, or business each year that helps keep Innisfil clean by environmental greening, picking up litter, cleaning along the shoreline, or removing brush, debris or graffiti. People can learn more about Pitch-In Day and submit a nomination for the Debbie Mills Civic Pride Award at innisfil.ca/PitchIn.
