Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil, in partnership with the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, is inviting residents to a special Week of Welcome (WOW) event at the Lakeshore Branch (967 Innisfil Beach Road) on Wednesday, September 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening will help new and long-time residents alike discover programs, services, and opportunities to get involved in local life.

“Innisfil is a place where people can put down roots and feel at home,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Events like Week of Welcome give us the chance to celebrate our diversity, showcase the many programs and services available locally, and create meaningful connections that strengthen our community.”

This family-friendly event will feature a mix of information and fun:

  • Meet & Greet: Connect with staff from the Town of Innisfil, the Library, and community partners to learn about local services and supports.
  • Discover the Library: Tour the ideaLAB & Library (Lakeshore Branch) and explore everything it has to offer.
  • Fun & Games: Play life-size board games and yard games.
  • Family Storytime: Drop in between 6–7 p.m. for stories the whole family will enjoy.
  • Trivia & Swag: Test your knowledge and take home prizes.
  • Neighbour Connections: Meet other newcomers and residents in a welcoming, social space.

This event is part of the County of Simcoe’s Week of Welcome (WOW), which runs September 15 to 19, 2025. WOW is a county-wide celebration dedicated to welcoming newcomers through workshops, job and service fairs, cultural events, and a Citizenship Ceremony (by invitation). Activities focus on economic, social, cultural, and political integration of newcomers in Simcoe County by liaising with local municipal partners, settlement service provider organizations, ethno-cultural groups, and vendors.

The initiative is hosted by the Simcoe County Local Immigration Partnership with funding from Canada’s Ministry of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship. For full details on all WOW events across the region, visit simcoe.ca/WeekOfWelcome.
