Innisfil, ON – We are saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle, Scotland at the age of 96.

She was a respected monarch who navigated through some of the most challenging times in our history, all the while raising her family and committing to public service.

Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne in 1952 and earlier this year celebrated her Platinum Jubilee commemorating 70 years on the throne which is a remarkable and unprecedented reign.

She lived an extraordinary life and maintained strong ties to the Commonwealth countries, including Canada.

The flags at Innisfil Town Hall are lowered to half-staff to honour the profound impact her Majesty had throughout her reign.

A book of condolence will be available at Town Hall beginning on Monday, September 12 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for those who wish to share their thoughts on her passing.

Our thoughts are with the Royal Family during this incredibly sad time.
