Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil is celebrating Local Government Week this October with a series of events designed to help residents learn more about municipal services and how local decisions are made.

“Local government is the closest level of government to the people,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “From the roads we drive on to the parks where our families play, municipal services impact so many parts of our daily lives. Local Government Week is about opening the doors of Town Hall, creating space for meaningful conversations, and showing residents how their voices can truly shape our town.”

This year’s activities aim to make local democracy more accessible and approachable and include opportunities for residents of all ages to get involved.

Events happening at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library (Lakeshore Branch):

  • Seats at the Table: Creating Space in Local Democracy on October 16, 6-7 p.m.
    • This speaker event invites residents to join Dr. Kofi Hope and Mayor Lynn Dollin for an engaging discussion about what it takes to open doors in local politics. Registration is required.
  • Local Government Session on October 23, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
    • Youth and interested community members can join this presentation all about municipal government. High school students can earn community service hours for attending. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Events happening at Innisfil Town Hall:

  • Municipal Matters 101 Drop-in on October 21, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
    • Stop by to chat with Clerk Services about Local Government, Town Council and the 2026 Municipal Election.
  • Coffee Chats with Council + Special Guests on October 22, 5:30-6:45 p.m.
    • Engage directly with your elected representatives and other Town services. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
  • Council Meeting on October 22, starting at 7 p.m.
    • Join this meeting to see local decision-making in action, including a presentation about Local Government.
