Town of Innisfil invites feedback on new Community Improvement Program
Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil is inviting business owners, developers and community members to provide input on Innisfil’s new Community Improvement Program at a virtual community consultation on Tuesday, January 27 from 2:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is a tool which allows municipalities in Ontario to offer a suite of targeted financial incentives to offset costs related to the development of new buildings, business expansions and community revitalization projects.
“This Community Improvement Program represents an important step in strengthening our local economy,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Through initiatives like this, we’re continuing to enhance opportunities for new investment, the growth of local business and the creation of more job opportunities close to home.”
The recommendation to initiate a CIP for Innisfil was raised by the business community through consultations held for the Innisfil Economic Development Strategic Plan. While Innisfil is well-positioned to capture new investment, rising costs, property-specific barriers and competition for investment can impede new development. A CIP can assist the municipality in targeting specific sectors and/or directing investment to specific geographic locations within the Township in order to meet the objectives of the Town’s strategic planning documents.
“Our local business and development community has incredibly helpful knowledge and experience which is essential in creating a CIP that is reflective of the needs and priorities of our community,” says Laura Thompson, Manager of Economic Development. “This consultation is an important opportunity for landowners, businesses, and residents to play a role in Innisfil’s growth.”
Those interested in participating must register in advance. For more information on the Innisfil Community Improvement Program and to register for the community consultation, visit getinvolvedinnisfil.ca/CIP.
