Town of Innisfil invites feedback on draft Official Plan
Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil is inviting residents, business owners, and other community members to provide input on Innisfil’s draft Official Plan. This key document will guide how the town grows and develops through to 2051.
Individuals can share their input at two public engagement events:
- Drop-In Open House
Tuesday, January 6, between 5 and 7 p.m.
Innisfil Town Hall, 2101 Innisfil Beach Road - Public Meeting
Wednesday, January 21, 6:30 p.m.

“This draft presents a renewed vision and updated goals for our Official Plan based on community feedback we received earlier this year,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “We took that input to create a clear framework for how we will manage future growth, taking our community’s latest growth projections into account. I encourage everyone to join the upcoming sessions to learn about the proposed updates, ask questions, and share their perspectives.”
The draft Official Plan applies to the entire Town and includes recommended Settlement Area Boundary Expansions (SABEs) for Alcona and Stroud. It sets policies and mapping that influence:
- Land use and urban design
- New homes and housing options
- Infrastructure planning
- Jobs and business development
- Climate change adaptation
- Environmental protections
The update also ensures alignment with the Town’s master plans, recent provincial planning direction, and the County of Simcoe Official Plan.
Feedback collected during both public engagement events will be used to further refine the draft plan before it is brought to Innisfil Council for final consideration and adoption at a future meeting. The public meeting is being held jointly with the County of Simcoe, which must amend its own Official Plan to implement changes brought forward in the Town’s Official Plan update.
“Community input is essential as we work together to plan for responsible, sustainable growth,” says Simcoe County Warden Basil Clarke. “We’re committed to collaborating with the Town of Innisfil and all our municipalities to shape a vibrant future for our communities.”
The draft Official Plan can be reviewed in advance on the Town’s Get Involved Innisfil platform at getinvolvedinnisfil.ca/OPR.
The proposed County of Simcoe Official Plan Amendment is available for review at simcoe.ca/services/planning/amendments-and-current-applications.
