Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil is holding a virtual public open house for its Facilities Master Plan on Tuesday, April 4 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Community members are invited to help shape the future of 11 Town-owned facilities by attending this 90-minute session hosted via Zoom conferencing.

“We have a number of facilities in Innisfil that are hugely important to our community,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “The facilities master planning process will give us a chance to consider what we love most about our facilities, what we’d like to preserve, and how much we’re willing to spend. The goal is to maximize the life and use of these spaces, so we are making the most of every infrastructure dollar.”

The Facilities Master Plan is a fundamental planning tool that will guide how the municipality allocates resources towards short and long-term facility improvements. Spanning a period of 30 years, it will help the Town accommodate future population and employment growth while encouraging the development of Town facilities as hubs that promote wellness, social cohesion, and community well-being.

Facilities included in the scope of the project are:

  • Stroud Arena and Community Centre
  • Innisfil Recreational Complex
  • Morgan Russell Memorial Arena & Community Centre
  • Innisfil Operations Centre
  • Salt and Sand Dome
  • Churchill Community Centre
  • Knock Community Centre
  • Cookstown Theatre
  • Cookstown Community Centre
  • Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre
  • Innisfil Town Hall

During the open house, the public will be asked to rank the importance of upgrading or replacing existing facilities according to guiding principles established by the project team. The community’s feedback will then be analyzed with capital and operational data to inform the final recommendations included in the plan. The draft plan is expected to go before Innisfil Council in late summer this year.
