Temporary closure of Stroud Arena & Banquet Hall
Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil has closed the Stroud Arena ice pad and banquet hall due to an issue with an interior wall within the facility, which is being assessed.
The Stroud Branch of the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, as well as the Stroud Curling Club are able to re-open after review from an independent engineering company.
During the Town’s regular inspections of all facilities, it was noted that a wall adjacent to the ice surface appeared out of alignment and was in need of professional assessment.
“In an abundance of caution for patrons and staff, we made the decision to close the entire facility on January 20 to assess and determine next steps,” says Nicole Bowman, Director, Operations. “Safety is our key priority, and we wanted to take the necessary steps to fully understand the issue and what is needed to resolve this. Currently, we do not have a timeline on when the arena and banquet hall can re-open, but we are reaching out to all user groups of this facility to accommodate them as best as we can.”
The Stroud Arena was built in 1975, with additions in 1988 and 2000 to accommodate the needs of the community.
