The Town of Innisfil will lift seasonal load restrictions early this year in conjunction with the County of Simcoe. Following a review of weather conditions and modelling data, reduced load restrictions will be removed on Innisfil’s roads as of April 17, 2024.

Half-load restrictions are typically in place from March 1 to May 1 for certain Town roads. During this time, vehicles are restricted to a maximum loaded weight of five tonnes per axle unless they meet the exceptions under the Highway Traffic Act. These restrictions are implemented to safeguard the integrity of roads and roadbeds during the spring-thaw period when roads are more susceptible to damage.

The decision to lift the restrictions early underscores the Town’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and preservation of Innisfil’s road network while minimizing disruptions for drivers and operators. The Town extends its appreciation to the community for their cooperation during the restricted load period.
