Whereas March 26 is Purple Day; a global effort dedicated to promoting epilepsy awareness in countries around the world; and

Whereas according to Epilepsy Canada, 1 in 100 Canadians are affected by epilepsy; and

Whereas Epilepsy is a physical condition characterized by sudden, brief changes in how the brain works; and

Whereas it is a symptom of a neurological disease, a disease that affects the brain and shows itself in the form of seizures; and

Whereas the public is often unable to recognize common seizure types, and to respond with appropriate first aid; and

Whereas Epilepsy Simcoe County assist individuals, families, caregivers, and professionals in our area with education, support, and advocacy in relation to epilepsy awareness; and

Now therefore, on behalf of the Corporation, I, Mayor Lynn Dollin, do hereby proclaim March 26, 2024, as Purple Day during Epilepsy Awareness Month in the Town of Innisfil.
