Whereas March 26 is Purple Day; a global effort dedicated to promoting epilepsy awareness in countries around the world; and

Whereas according to Epilepsy Canada, 1 in 100 Canadians is affected by epilepsy; and

Whereas Epilepsy is a physical condition characterized by sudden, brief changes in how the brain works; and

Whereas it is a symptom of a neurological disease, a disease that affects the brain and shows itself in the form of seizures; and

Whereas the public is often unable to recognize common seizure types, and to respond with appropriate first aid; and

Whereas Epilepsy Simcoe County assist individuals, families, caregivers, and professionals in our area with education, support, and advocacy in relation to epilepsy awareness.

Now therefore, I, Mayor Lynn Dollin, on behalf of Innisfil Council, hereby proclaim March 26, 2025, as Purple Day during Epilepsy Awareness Month in the Town of Innisfil.
