Whereas on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we recognize and celebrate the equal rights and dignity of persons with disabilities everywhere and reaffirm our commitment to building a world where people with disabilities are afforded the opportunities, independence, and respect they deserve; and

Whereas it is a global celebration that acknowledges the many achievements persons with disabilities have made. This day also mobilizes support for critical issues related to their rights and well-being in all aspects of society, including political, social, economic, and cultural life; and

Whereas the Town of Innisfil recognizes the trauma persons with disabilities are experiencing, as well as their resilience and the valuable contributions they are making to remove barriers and advance accessibility and inclusion; and

Whereas the Town of Innisfil is committed to creating and maintaining an accessible and inclusive community and upholding the principles of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). We reaffirm our commitment to identify, prevent and remove barriers to equitable access and inclusion for persons with disabilities who live, work, and visit the Town of Innisfil.

Now Therefore, I, Mayor Lynn Dollin on behalf of the Town of Innisfil hereby proclaim December 3, 2023, as International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
