Whereas the Town of Innisfil highly values every individual and emphasizes the importance of equality, dignity, and freedom. We welcome all to live, work and play within the community and believe that every family, regardless of its composition, deserves a place to call home where they are safe, happy, and
supported by friends and neighbours; and

Whereas we have made significant progress toward acceptance and inclusion thanks to Innisfil Pride, UPlift Black and BIPOC organizations that continue to fight for such important causes; and

Whereas we must also acknowledge that many continue to face social intolerance and systemic barriers and that a need for education and awareness still remains; and

Whereas in support of the Town’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, the month of June is dedicated to programming, education, and celebration of the history, progress, courage, and diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community; and

Whereas as part of these efforts, the Town of Innisfil will proudly fly the Progress Pride flag in celebration of Pride Month. This gesture serves to honour the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Innisfil while recognizing that there is still progress to be made. Each colour of the flag represents the strong history and diversity of
2SLGBTQ+ communities.

Now Therefore I, Mayor Lynn Dollin, on behalf of the Town of Innisfil, do hereby proclaim the month of June 2023, to be Innisfil Pride Month in the Town of Innisfil.
