Whereas, Crime Stoppers is a charitable community-led volunteer organization and the local chapter of Crime Stoppers has been serving the Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka region since 1987;

Whereas, Crime Stoppers is not a police program or funded by federal, provincial or police agencies. The program is operated solely with generous donations from the private sector and businesses or raised through fundraising efforts of the volunteer Board of Directors and committee volunteers; and

Whereas, Crime Stoppers is a program that benefits everyone in the community, and in 2005, Crime Stoppers International was recognized by the United Nations as a global force in the fight against crime and terrorism; and

Whereas, increased awareness and understanding of the Crime Stoppers program will promote the use of the TIPS line (1-800-222-8477) and other anonymous reporting tools to reduce and solve crime; and

Whereas, Crime Stoppers actively works with members of the community, media, and police as a community safety service partner. Since 1987, Crime Stoppers of Simcoe Dufferin-Muskoka has processed thousands of tips resulting in thousands of arrests and recovery of substantial amounts of property.

Therefore, I, Mayor Lynn Dollin, on behalf of the Town of Innisfil, hereby proclaim the month of January 2025 as Crime Stoppers Month in the Town of Innisfil.
