Innisfil, ON – This afternoon, Town council members and staff joined the community to unveil the new modular pump track at Innisfil Beach Park. This pump track can be enjoyed by bikers, skateboarders, scooters and inline skaters.

“One of the lessons we have learned during the pandemic is the need to get outside,” said Innisfil Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Exercise has numerous physical and mental health benefits, and this pump track will go a long way to ensuring our youth have another exciting option to get active.”

Located near the tennis courts and parking lot F, the pump track features approximately 50 metres (165 feet) of circuitous track geared towards riders aged 4 and up. The hard surface track consists of a looped sequence of berms and rollers, designed to offer a unique, challenging and safe course for a variety of riding disciplines. The track can be relocated or reconfigured, making it an amenity that can be placed in other parks across Innisfil over time.

“It's about the kids – we really felt like the pandemic has raised the urgency for us to give youth something special so they know life is returning to normal,” said James Roncone, a member of the Innisfil Beach Park Ad Hoc Committee. “We’ll be taking a look at how youth use this amenity and we’ll gather their feedback to see if it’s something we should enhance.”

The Town thanks the Innisfil Beach Park Ad Hoc Committee and Youth Connex Committee for championing the idea and identifying emerging recreation options to meet diverse activity needs. These committees dedicate their time to improving Innisfil and giving residents more opportunities to build connections, get active and make memories in the community.

As part of the Innisfil Beach Park Master Plan, this amenity builds on the planned investments to the park. The project cost approximately $60,000 and was funded by the Ad Hoc Committee’s budget. The project is also supported by the Town’s Youth Engagement Strategy, which identified that youth want more safe spaces to go and feel connected to like-minded people while improving access to physical activity.
