Mayor's Golf Tournament raises 69K for Innisfil Community Foundation
Innisfil, ON – The Innisfil Mayor’s Golf Tournament returned yesterday, after a year-long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s tournament was held at the Nest at Friday Harbour Resort and raised $69,000 for the Innisfil Community Foundation.
While the format of the tournament was different due to COVID-19 safety protocols, the spirit of the community was out in full force.
“I am amazed and inspired by the generosity of all the golfers, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and our hosts at The Nest at Friday Harbour,” said Innisfil Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Proceeds from the tournament will help Innisfil Community Foundation grant funds to local charities that are working so hard to help our community members through the pandemic and beyond.”
Although normal fundraising activities such as silent auctions and raffles were put on hold due to the pandemic, our community’s generosity could not be contained with funds generated by our socially distanced golfers and over 30 sponsorships.
“The Innisfil Community Foundation is so very grateful to our community of donors and sponsors,” said Chair of the Innisfil Community Foundation, Sandra Rizzardo, who participated in the event as a golfer and sponsor through her company, SanDiego Homes. “There are so many charities working hard to support our community right now. Your generosity will go a long way to ensuring that they can continue this vital work.”
