Innisfil, ON – Community members are invited to commemorate the sacrifices of Canadian veterans at Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the Town of Innisfil. This year, services will take place on November 10 and 11.

Sunday, November 10

  • Royal Canadian Legion Branch 547 (1017 Robinson Street), 10:30 a.m.
  • Veterans Memorial Park – Cookstown Cenotaph (20 Church Street), 10:45 a.m.
  • Sandycove War Memorial (43 Weeping Willow Drive), 2:00 p.m.

Monday, November 11

  • Innisfil Town Hall (2101 Innisfil Beach Road), 10:45 a.m.

“Remembrance Day is a time to come together to remember the sacrifices and achievements of the brave Canadians who served, and continue to serve, our country at home and abroad,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “I invite all residents to join us for a moment of silence at ceremonies across Innisfil as we acknowledge the debt of gratitude we owe to our Veterans and service members who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms.”

The Innisfil Remembrance Day Working Group helps organize the annual service at Town Hall to provide an opportunity for residents to pause and reflect on the role that Innisfil’s citizens have played in protecting and preserving Canada’s freedoms in times of war, conflict and peace.

In recognition of Veterans’ Week (November 5-11) and Remembrance Day, the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library invites their patrons to write a Poppy of Remembrance this month. These poppies will form in-branch installations with words of acknowledgement and thanks, or the names of loved ones who served or are currently serving in the armed forces. On November 9, the Library’s Cookstown Branch will host a special presentation honouring the service and sacrifice of veterans.
