Make an Impact: Seeking Sustainability Champions for Innisfil's Newest Committee
Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil is seeking volunteer community members to join the newly formed Innisfil Sustainability Advisory Committee (ISAC). This committee will provide recommendations and support to Town Council and staff on environmental sustainability, climate action, and a community-focused sustainability strategy.
“From our agricultural lands and forested areas to Lake Simcoe and its shoreline, Innisfil is known for its beautiful natural resources, and we are committed to protecting them,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “This is why we adopted the Integrated Sustainability Master Plan last year and why Council supported the decision to create a new advisory committee focused on environmental sustainability.”
ISAC’s volunteer community members will represent a diversity of opinions, viewpoints, and expertise that reflect the Town's rich history, culture, and future vision. Any Innisfil community member with an interest, knowledge, or passion for environmental issues is welcome to apply.
Recognizing that Indigenous communities were the original stewards of the land and that future-focused actions should also consider the points of view of youth members, the Town seeks to include these voices around the table. Indigenous community members and young people (late teens to early twenties) are encouraged to consider joining ISAC.
The Town is accepting ISAC membership applications until March 20, 2025. For more information on the Innisfil Sustainability Advisory Committee, its mandate, and how to apply, visit innisfil.ca/ISAC.
