Man looking at computer screen during virtual meeting

Spring 2020 was a hectic time for everyone making the move to Remote Work—and it was IT’s job to make it happen. Overnight, a large percentage of our employees (150 office staff) transitioned from working every day in an office setting to working from home. It was up to IT to ensure that staff could perform the same functions from home as in the office while maintaining productivity and system security, and still supporting frontline staff that continued to work on-site. Setting up new services and providing readily available remote support was key to ensuring the transition went smoothly.

IT is involved in many areas outside of computers and the networks that connect them. Other areas we are involved in include:

  • Mobile devices
  • Digital services
  • Cybersecurity
  • Technology help desk
  • Fielding calls on all types of issues from software support to computer assistance to ergonomics
  • Business solutions such as:
    • Working with end users to provide software solutions that meet their business needs
    • Development of our own software to meet specific needs
    • Mapping services

We are also becoming more heavily involved in other areas. Many previously stand-alone systems are now becoming more and more connected to data networks. These include:

  • Fuel card lock system
  • Alarm systems
  • Building automation systems
  • Phone systems
  • Surveillance
  • Fleet monitoring
  • Electronic signs

In addition to the Town of Innisfil, IT Services also provides services to InnServices Utilities Inc. and Township of Essa staff.
