Interview tips
Do you have an interview coming up with the Town of Innisfil or another organization? We’ve put together some interview tips to help you prepare and put your best foot forward!
Take some time before your interview to learn about the organization you’re interviewing with. For example, if you’re interviewing with the Town of Innisfil, you will want to take some time to research some of the exciting and innovative steps we’ve taken to transform our community and enhance service delivery.
You’ll also want to review the job ad or job posting and think about how your work experiences align. If there’s a full job description attached to the posting for you to review, even better, as that will allow you to take a deeper look into the full scope of the job.
To prepare, we recommend responding to some practice interview questions in front of a mirror, a pet, or a family member. Even if you have prepared notes to refer to during your interview, practicing how you might respond to interview questions will help when the time comes for the actual interview.
If you will be interviewing virtually, you’ll want to “check your tech” ahead of time. For example, you will want to test your camera and speakers before the interview starts. If the meeting is on Zoom, you can test your audio and video on their test site. As much as possible, you’ll also want to find a quiet, private space for the interview itself.
Lastly, don’t forget to be yourself! The Town of Innisfil values authenticity and wants to get to know the real YOU during the interview.
