Innisfil, ON – Innisfil’s new Junior C hockey team—the Innisfil Spartans—is hosting their inaugural Home Opener game at the Innisfil Recreational Complex (Red “Cortellucci” Rink) this Saturday, September 24. The 2022/2023 hockey season marks the Innisfil Spartans’ first time playing in the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL).

“We’re very excited to see Junior-level hockey back in Innisfil,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “This team gives younger athletes playing at other levels a chance to grow their hockey skills right here at home. Hockey games are a great way to support the local sports community, connect with neighbours, and cheer on Innisfil with pride!”

The game starts at 7:30 p.m. as the Innisfil Spartans face off against the Caledon Golden Hawks. Tickets are available for purchase (cash only) at the door:

  • Adults - $10
  • Students - $8
  • Seniors - $8
  • Children six to twelve years old - $6

It is a $2 admission for minor hockey league players wearing their Innisfil Winterhawks, Lefroy Icebreakers, or Thornton Tigers jerseys. Children five and under can watch the game for free. The Innisfil Recreational Complex is located at 7315 Yonge Street.

"The Innisfil Spartans are proud to represent the community of Innisfil in the Junior C hockey world and we’re looking forward to a successful first season,” says George Floros, Innisfil Spartans owner and president. “Bringing this level of hockey to Innisfil gives these younger players a chance to develop their athletic skills and connect with the community. Our goal is that our team members will be role models both on and off the ice.”

Generally, Junior C is a development level for Junior A and Junior B hockey.
