Whereas countless individuals—patients, survivors, caregivers, families, friends, medical professionals, researchers, and advocates—demonstrate extraordinary courage, resilience, and compassion in the face of cancer; and

Whereas these Cancer Heroes inspire us all through their strength, determination, and unwavering spirit of hope; and

Whereas National Cancer Hero Day, created by survivor and advocate Shirin Ariff in 2024, provides an opportunity to recognize and honor the bravery of cancer patients and survivors, as well as the invaluable support of caregivers and communities; and

Whereas this day also highlights the importance of raising awareness, supporting cancer research, and ensuring access to quality care for all who are affected; and

Whereas November 27, 2014, marks a day of profound personal healing and transformation for Shirin Ariff, whose journey inspired the creation of this annual observance; and

Now Therefore I, Lynn Dollin, Mayor of the Town of Innisfil, do hereby proclaim November 27, 2025, as National Cancer Hero Day in the Town of Innisfil and encourage all citizens to join in recognizing, celebrating, and supporting the Cancer Heroes in our lives and community.
