Whereas dwarfism is a genetic condition resulting in short stature and affects approximately 1 in every 40,000 births; and

Whereas individuals with dwarfism face unique medical, social and physical barriers, yet lead full, productive lives and make significant contributions to our communities; and

Whereas October is recognized globally as Dwarfism Awareness Month—a time to increase public awareness, acceptance, challenge misconceptions, and promote equity, inclusion and access for individuals with dwarfism; and

Whereas the Ontario Dwarfism Association supports all those with dwarfism and their families by raising awareness, advocating for inclusion, and fostering support across the province.

Now Therefore, I, Mayor L. Dollin, on behalf of the Town of Innisfil, do hereby proclaim the month of October as Dwarfism Awareness Month, and encourage all residents to learn more, promote understanding, and celebrate the strength, diversity and contributions of people with dwarfism.
