Innisfil lowers flags in honour of Hazel McCallion
Innisfil, ON – The flags at Innisfil’s Town Hall have been lowered to half-mast to honour and recognize Hazel McCallion, the former long-standing Mayor of Mississauga. McCallion passed away on January 29 at the age of 101.
“It was with profound sadness that I heard the news of Hazel’s passing,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “She was a lifelong mentor to me and presented me with the chain of office in 2018 when I was first sworn in as Mayor. She was so widely respected and put her community first. So many of us looked to her as a role model on how to effectively lead a municipality. I will miss her dearly and send deepest condolences to her family.”
The flags at Town Hall will remain lowered until sunset of the day of her funeral.
