Innisfil Council adopts 2026 Town Budget
Innisfil, ON – Innisfil Town Council has adopted the Town’s revised 2026 budget, reducing the blended property tax impact originally forecast through the Town’s multi-year budget.
The revised budget includes a 2026 blended property tax increase of 4.2 per cent, reduced from the 5.5 per cent increase included in the Town’s 2025/2026 budget approved in January 2025. This represents an estimated annual increase of $222.99 for the average household (assessed at $446,363).
“Council and staff worked hard to lower the impact of the 2026 budget while continuing to deliver the services residents depend on,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “We are facing significant budget pressures that are largely outside the Town’s control, including increased policing costs and lower assessment growth. Because assessment growth spreads costs across a larger tax base, lower growth means the cost of delivering services is shared among fewer properties, placing increased pressure on existing taxpayers. This budget reflects a balanced approach, protecting core services and planning for the future, while keeping affordability top of mind.”
The 4.2 per cent increase is referred to as “blended”, as it reflects the combined impact of property taxes collected on behalf of the Town and external service providers.
Year-Over-Year Increases from 2025 (based on the average household)
- Town services: 1.31 per cent increase (+$24.78)
- Police services: 10.83 per cent increase (+$75.90)
- County of Simcoe services: 3.5 per cent increase (+$48.53)
- Education services: 0 per cent increase ($0.00)
The blended increase also includes the Town’s 1 per cent capital levy (+$73.78), which supports the ongoing repair and replacement of aging infrastructure and municipal assets over time.
For every tax dollar collected:
- $0.48 is retained by the Town
- $0.14 goes to the South Simcoe Police Service
- $0.26 goes to the County of Simcoe
- $0.12 goes to the Province of Ontario (Education)
The Town's 2026 operating budget, with a revised total tax levy requirement of $57,353,510, supports day-to-day service delivery for residents and businesses such as snow clearing, road improvements, parks, firefighting services, and more.
The Town’s 2026 capital budget totals $40,769,004, funding major repairs and replacement of municipal infrastructure and assets.
To help lessen the tax burden on property owners, the Town uses a range of non-tax revenue sources, including permit and development fees, user fees, OLG revenues, reserves, and grants.
