Community members of all ages are invited to see what’s new for Innisfil teens at special Teen Nights Open House events during National Youth Week. These events will offer an inside look at the recently launched Teen Nights program, showcasing its important role in supporting young people in the community.

Teen Nights, a collaboration between the Town of Innisfil, the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, and the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, are free and safe drop-in spaces where teens can hang out, try new activities, meet people, and have fun. While most nights are just for teens in grades 7 to 12, the Open House events welcome families and community members to explore the spaces alongside their teens and provide feedback on the program.

The events will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at each of the three Teen Nights locations:

  • Wednesday, May 1 at the Innisfil YMCA
  • Friday, May 3 at the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library’s Lakeshore Branch
  • Monday, May 6 at the Morgan Russell Memorial Arena & Community Centre

Attendees can expect a glimpse into what the weekly programs offer, such as games, arts and crafts, snacks, and music, plus a little extra to celebrate the new program, including a photo booth, free swag, and more.

The Teen Nights program is a direct response to a situational assessment conducted by the Town of Innisfil in consultation with local youth, the South Simcoe Police Service, and social service organizations. Key findings highlighted the opportunity to invest in safe and welcoming spaces for Innisfil’s youth to gather, connect, and access the support they need to thrive.

"This new initiative is a vital part of our community's efforts to engage youth and support a healthy, active, and safe community for all,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “After in-depth conversations with local stakeholders and teens, we’re excited to launch this new program and open the doors to our community to get a firsthand experience of Teen Nights!”

Free Uber Transit is available to help community members get to and from Teen Nights, and the Open House events. Please email teennights@innisfil.ca or speak to a Teen Nights staff on site.

Teen Nights are funded by the Government of Canada’s Building Safer Communities Fund (BSCF). It is one of several BSCF initiatives led by the Town of Innisfil providing support for children, youth, and families.
