Team collaboration meeting with sticky notes on whiteboard

Innisfil Economic Development is a big idea—we have a specific vision in mind for the the Town of Innisfil.

Imagine working in an exciting environment in your own community where you commute less and have more time to spend with friends and family. Our vision is to transform and accelerate Innisfil’s economy into a robust start up and scale up community. Well-paying local jobs and well-being are core to our vision.

Support network

Having support means success. We’re building and constantly evolving our Startup Support Network in order to strengthen the community of local entrepreneurs and create a cluster of scalable startups right here in the Town of Innisfil.

Living and starting a business in Innisfil means you are connected to a prosperous community of dedicated entrepreneurs starting, growing, and scaling their businesses.

Here’s a couple of the initiatives we’ve been working on:

DMZ Innisfil

    • Started as Toronto Metropolitan (Ryerson) University's business incubator, the DMZ is now one of Canada’s largest (and most successful) business incubators for emerging tech startups. The DMZ is open to all companies that meet its criteria. And now, those startups can grow right here in Innisfil.
    • The competition for becoming a DMZ alum is great, but the rewards are even greater.
    • Successful candidates will work out of our dedicated accelerator space at 8000 Yonge St. in Innisfil, and get access to DMZ’s full suite of services—connecting them with customers, capital, and experts to help them grow.
    • DMZ has fuelled 450+ startups and raised over $700 million in seed funding (and counting!)

Work From Innisfil

  • Creating a great place for remote workers is not about statistics, but humanity, which is exactly how the Town of Innisfil is structuring the soon to be released Work from Innisfil program.
  • While remote work is a fundamentally different way of working that comes with its own challenges, the reality is remote workers want a fulfilling life outside of work as well.
  • As more remote workers consider leaving big, expensive cities for a rural alternative, it’s crucial to not forget what really makes a great place to live. Once you have fast internet, it’s about culture, amenities, inclusion, and community.
