The Town of Innisfil declared a Significant Weather Event on March 30, 2025 at 9 a.m. in accordance with the Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways. The weekend storm caused severe ice conditions that led to power outages, downed trees and powerlines, and hazardous road conditions.

The Significant Weather Event will remain in place until crews are able to clear all roads of tree debris.

Restoring power

As of approximately 11 p.m. on April 1, InnPower has restored power to 96% of residents. Multiple crews continue to work to restore power to the remaining households.

The ice storm caused a territory-wide service outage and InnPower continues working to restore areas with significant damage. Additional crews have been brought in from Enova Power, K-Line and Ontario Line Clearing to assist with removing and replacing broken poles, repairing fallen lines, and clearing damaged trees.

If you are without power, please watch InnPower's social media or outage map for status updates or contact them using their reporting tools

Ongoing clean-up

We have cleared all main roads. Next, Town crews and certified tree service contractor crews are working across Innisfil's residential areas with narrowed or blocked roads due to fallen trees or roadside debris. Barrels, barricades, or road closure signs have been placed in the affected areas until crews are able to reach them based on priority and safety. There is a large cleanup ahead and we ask residents for their understanding and patience.

If you are dealing with large trees on your private property, we recommend reaching out to a local tree service for assistance. For any trees that have caused damage to your property, please contact your homeowners’ insurance company for further guidance.

Innisfil Beach Park remains closed at this time. The damage to the Town’s other parks is still being assessed and residents are warned against accessing other parks for the time being. Cleanup efforts in parks and trails will begin after all roads have been recovered.

Reporting damage

Residents who encounter fallen trees or blocked roads are encouraged to report them by calling the Town’s Customer Service team at 705-436-3710 or using the online reporting portal.

Waste collection

To assist residents with cleanup of their properties, the County of Simcoe has waived disposal fees for unbundled brush, large branches and logs at all waste drop-off facilities until April 28.

For bundled brush and smaller branches, please visit the County of Simcoe’s website or download the Simcoe County Collects app to confirm leaf and yard waste pick-up schedules. For curbside collection, brush must be prepared as follows:

  • Individual branches should not exceed 7 cm in diameter
  • Branches should not exceed 2 metres in length
  • Logs are not accepted at the curb
