I’ve been with the Town of Innisfil for over a year and a half as a Purchasing Agent. In this role, I work with different departments in procuring their respective needs. This can vary from finding vendors who can provide a youth consulting service, purchase fleet vehicles, design parks and so much more! There is always something new and exciting to work on here at the Town. Our main priority in Purchasing is to ensure our procurement methods are open, fair and transparent. We do this through meticulously reviewing bidding documents and enforcing contract law. The main departments we work with are Capital Engineering and Operations to ensure the Town gets the best services possible. Internally, we also work with Legal to ensure we are continuously up to date and compliant with legislation, as well as doing our best to mitigate risk. We strive to find ways to continuously achieve value for public resources and incorporate innovation where possible.

When I’m not working on bids, I’m administering and managing the corporate P-Card program. Our team is working on creating a variety of training modules for new employees that are interactive and full of key information! We will soon be increasing efficiencies at the Town by streamlining our processes through our internal Dashboard – which we are super excited about! The Town runs some great employee-led community events and I’ve been an active participant with the Troy Scott Community fridges. I find this to be one of the most rewarding experiences and truly appreciate getting the opportunity to give back. This is something I try and do in my personal life often and getting the opportunity to do it with my colleagues has been very fulfilling. I am also a part of the Town’s Social Committee where we come together to create events for our staff and encourage Town employees to build stronger connections and learn about other exciting work happening throughout the organization.

My team is truly and absolutely amazing! We are always growing, learning and leaning on each other for support. I feel that having such a supportive and encouraging team, a sense of belonging, and an uplifting supervisor, is all you could ever want. The Town of Innisfil is truly an amazing municipality to work for. Not only is there a sense of community, but you can also see the rewards of the work you do. I feel immensely grateful for the ongoing learning opportunities and the importance the Town places on balance and mental health. I’m grateful to be working here and for the friendships I’ve made along the way!
