Employee Feature: Olena's Story
I started with the Town in October 2022 as an Assistant Town Solicitor (Construction & Procurement). On a daily basis, I work together with the Town’s talented Legal team and tackle a diverse range of legal issues. We respond to claims, review agreements, and provide legal advice on various questions from Town staff. My focus is on construction and procurement matters. This involves providing legal opinions, ensuring that the Town follows open, fair, and transparent procurement process, drafting and reviewing agreements between the Town and third parties, and collaborating with different Town departments, making every day a unique adventure.
I am regularly involved in interesting large-scale projects that shape the Town’s future. These projects not only challenge me professionally, but also allow me to make a meaningful contribution to the community we serve. I have also volunteered with the Town and participated in meal preparation at the Horodynsky Community Kitchen, which was donated to the Troy Scott Community Fridges. I also look after a community garden along with other co-workers in the summer. It is a chance for me to build stronger connections with my coworkers while contributing to a meaningful cause.
The Town is a fantastic place to work for two primary reasons: the emphasis on work-life balance and the wonderful people. The work-life balance allows me to fulfill both professional and personal commitments. Additionally, the positive atmosphere created by the people who work for the Town makes every day a joy and creates a sense of belonging. We support each other, celebrate birthdays and holidays, and care about each other’s wellbeing. For example, the last holiday season, we gathered at a team member's home to celebrate. This is an example of the friendships that we create at the Town, making it an amazing place to work.
