My journey with the Town of Innisfil started in the fall of 2014 when I was hired as a Facilities Casual on a six-month contract. At the end of my contract, I applied to a full-time Parks Operator posting and was the successful candidate in April of 2015.

After years of working within the Parks and Arenas Team, including working on campus, grass crews, and as a floater, there was an opportunity posted to join the Town’s Facilities Team as Facility Operator and I was successful in the recruiting process. In March 2024 this exciting new journey began! While working in this role I really took to the job and nature of the work which ultimately led me to another great opportunity as Facilities Specialist on the team. After a short stint in that role, my diligent work led to my most recent and current role as Operations Supervisor - Facilities. In my day to day, I work with various groups of internal and external individuals. My work ranges from dealing with contractors on various ongoing projects, to internal facility requests. I also have the privilege of leading a team of skilled Operators as we navigate through a lot of interesting and complex work. This role provides me with great opportunities to share my knowledge and learn from my team.

There are a lot of projects I'm proud of and I find it difficult to pinpoint just one, however I was extremely proud of the work completed to repair the Innisfil Recreation Centre (IRC) after the fire this summer, as well as the installation of new windows for the Knock Community Hall. The one I was most excited to complete was the Motor Control Centre (MCC) replacement at the IRC. This project was a large undertaking that required a lot of coordination between internal and external stakeholders.

The Town of Innisfil is a great place to work because we have the freedom to express ourselves, whether it be in our own work or continued education. There is always the ability to grow and learn with all the support needed to accomplish your goals. I have developed long lasting friendships with people at work which has resulted in friendships outside of work. The thing that has moved me the most is the atmosphere. I truly feel welcomed, respected, and appreciated in my workplace which translates to coming to work not just because I have to, but because I enjoy what I do.
