Hiring steps
Our recruitment process includes the following steps.
Step one: application process
Review our employment opportunities to find job postings and apply for jobs. Our job postings show a summary of the position, the full job description and the required qualifications or credentials. Apply to the job directly from the posting.
Step two: interview and testing
We will contact selected candidates and invite them for an interview. Based on the nature of the position, this may include testing components, such as:
- Written assignments
- Skills testing
- Technical knowledge assessment
- Equipment or vehicle operation
In some instances, we may hold a second interview.
Step three: employment screening
Based on the nature of the position, screening may include:
- Education and certification verification
- Police record check (including vulnerable sector)
- Employment and character references
- Skills testing
- Drivers abstract
- Physical fitness tests
- Medicals
Step four: offer of employment
After background screening, the successful candidate will receive an offer of employment outlining the agreement between the Town and the candidate.
Step five: employee onboarding
Employees will participate in a comprehensive onboarding program to familiarize them with the organization, their team and role.

Does the Town hire co-op positions? |
The Town participates in the Co-operative Education program with various educational institutions, and we have a variety of co-op placements available to students. These opportunities are available through schools that offer co-operative placements. Personal information that we collect as part of the application process is secured via our applicant tracking system. It is only reviewed by our People and Talent Team and the Hiring Panel. We use personal information to determine eligibility for potential employment in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection Privacy Act. |

You will receive an email from the online application system confirming that we received your application. If you do not receive this email, please call the People and Talent department at 705-436-3710. |
Can I make a change to my application? |
You can make a change to your application by logging back into the applicant tracking system with your email address and password. Once logged in, you will be able to update your information in the “Resume Profile”, “Cover Letters” and “Attachments” sections. If you are uploading an updated resume, please indicate this in the title or include a date so we know which version is the most recent. |
