Frequently asked questions

Review our list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) for further program information.

Is there a cost to attend?

No. Teen Nights are free thanks to a contribution from the Government of Canada.

Why do I have to register?

We need to have personal information about you, like your name, age, and emergency contact, to best serve you. We are using a registration process so you only have to provide this information once, instead of every time you attend. By collecting this information, we can communicate with you, reach someone in case of an emergency, and collect important information about the program.

What age range can attend Teen Nights?

Teens Nights are intended for those in Grades 7 to 12 (birth years 2012 to 2007).

I'm in grade 6. When can I start attending Teen Nights?

Students in grade 6 can start attending Teen Nights on the last day of their grade 6 school year.

I just finished grade 12. Can I attend Teen Nights in the summer?

Teens who have finished grade 12 can attend Teen Nights until the end of the last day of summer break.

What is the sign-in process for a Teen Night?

Teens will be required to sign in at the door of a Teen Night location. All locations use the same sign-in process. It's important for us to know who is in the building in case of an emergency.

How were teens consulted about Teen Nights?

The marketing materials and branding for Teen Nights were created by an advertising and design consultant in close collaboration with local youth, the Town of Innisfil, the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library, and the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. Two groups of youth participated in virtual and in-person sessions to provide their ideas and feedback.

Teen Nights activities and features were also developed with local youth and will be regularly updated to include ideas from Teen Night participants.

Working with youth is a win-win. By listening to their insights and perspectives, and authentically involving them in shared decision-making, we create meaningful opportunities for young people to reach their full potential. Co-designing materials also makes them more effective at engaging youth in Teen Nights.
