Various Roads Drainage Improvements Program
The Town of Innisfil initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for drainage improvements in the Bonsecours Beach and Goodfellow Beach area in the community of Alcona in 2021. The purpose of this study was to review existing environmental and drainage conditions and develop potential drainage improvements within the study area to improve flooding conditions.

Preferred solutions
The preferred solutions are as follows:
- Culvert replacements at the south end of Crystal Beach Road
- Erosion protection at the Town-owned easement southeast of Tall Tree Lane
- Ditching improvements throughout the study area
- Easement acquisitions to facilitate ditching improvements on the west side of Buchanan
- Street
- Easement acquisition for minor drainage outlet channel on 2346 Goodfellow Avenue
- Culvert replacement and installation at Hartley Road/Crystal Beach Road Intersection
- Implementation of a Rain Barrel program within the study area watershed
- Adoption of recommendations from the 2022 Stormwater Management Master Plan Update and Innisfil Flooding Strategy as the criteria for future development and redevelopment within the study area watershed
Public engagement
A virtual Public Open House was held from May 26, 2021 to June 30, 2021 for people to review the alternatives and recommended strategy under consideration, and to provide input and comments. You can review the presentation display boards for more information.
Comment on the report
We issued a Notice of Study Completion in July 2023. We encourage people to review the Municipal Class Environmental Study Report and provide written comments to the Town within the 30-day review period from July 24 to August 23, 2023 to the project contacts.
