Explore the history of Stroud with Innisfil's returning Heritage Walk
Innisfil, ON – The Town of Innisfil and the Innisfil Heritage Advisory Committee invite community members to discover the rich history of the village of Stroud at the Innisfil Heritage Walk on Sunday, October 5 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. This free guided walking tour will showcase the stories and spaces that have helped shape the community.
The Heritage Walk begins at St. James United Church (2230 Victoria Street) and will highlight notable heritage properties in the area, the families that helped establish the village, and municipal heritage matters.
Members of the Innisfil Heritage Advisory Committee will lead the walk alongside special guest storytellers. These local storytellers are long-time residents of the town with family ties to Stroud who are volunteering their time to share stories and knowledge.
“I hope this event brings neighbours together and allows them to learn more about the place they call home,” says Mayor Lynn Dollin. “Thank you to the Innisfil Heritage Advisory Committee and Town staff who have brought back the Heritage Walk for its second year. We need to slow down, connect, and appreciate the places we pass every day that make up our community.”
Participants are encouraged to park at the Stroud Innisfil Community Centre (7883 Yonge Street) and walk to St. James United Church. The Heritage Walk will take place rain or shine, so weather-appropriate clothing is recommended. For more information and to register, visit Innisfil.ca/Heritage.
