About Councillor Nicol

Headshot of Councillor NicolAfter years of summers spent around the area, Councillor Nicol moved to Innisfil as a permanent resident in 2005. He enjoys spending his time in this recreational community and boating or snowmobiling with his son around Lake Simcoe.

Councillor Nicol has proudly served on Town Council since 2014 and continues balancing his time as a territory sales manager at Moosehead Breweries while also running his own septic remediation business.

Over the years, known as a bit of a thrill seeker, he has gone static line parachuting, bungee jumped headfirst from both a construction crane over a grass field and from a bridge waist deep into the Nanaimo River. Rob has also gone aerobatic flying in an open cockpit Pitts Special with a former Canadian national champion, but he has since decided to retire both his snowboard and wakeboard.

Community involvement

Over the years, Councillor Nicol has continued to volunteer on a variety of local committees and organizations, including:

  • Being the president of the Shore Acres Beach Association since 2006
  • A past chairman of the Gilford Community Hall for almost 10 years
  • The coordinator of the annual Jakestock Fundraising Festival for eight years
  • For the 2018-2022 term, Councillor Nicol has been appointed as the Acting Mayor, is a director of the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority Board and is on the Town's Audit Committee as well as an alternate for the Emergency Operations Centre
