About Councillor Payne

Headshot of Councillor PayneCouncillor Payne and her husband Bruce have lived in Innisfil for the past 20 years. During her time on Council for the past eight years, she has been closely involved in the community and has taken her experiences being on the committees and applied to how she has represented Ward 6.

Before moving to Innisfil, Councillor Payne lived in Oakville, Ontario for 29 years raising her two children. As a stay-at-home mom, she used her time gardening, painting stained glass work and making macrame hangers and selling at craft shows. Councillor Payne decided to take up a part-time job once her children started getting older and worked with the local florist Forget Me Not Flowers enjoying it so much that she continues to prepare and decorate for important events and weddings in the Innisfil and Barrie area.

Councillor Payne's most honourable work was recognized not by the patrons but by that of Prince Charles and Lady Diana during their royal visit back in October 1991, creating table decorations for their events while here.

Councillor Payne was commissioned by the City of Mississauga to do a stained-glass mural for the Streetsville Library's Children's Department. Carolyn has been involved in many committees, including:

  • Drama Club (as well she performed on stage productions)
