What does it mean to have Water Tanker Shuttle Accreditation?

Water Tanker Shuttle Accreditation assures that adequate water can be brought to a fire from an alternate water supply besides a fire hydrant on a Municipal Water System.

The two grades required for accreditation are the Dwelling Protection Grade and the Public Fire Protection Grade.

Dwelling Protection Grade

This relates to the protection of personal dwellings. To be accredited, the fire department must maintain a flow of 950 litres (200 imperial gallons) per minute for duration of two hours.

Public Fire Protection Grade

This focuses on the protection of commercial and industrial needs. To be accredited, the fire department must maintain a flow of 1900 litres (400 imperial gallons) per minute for duration of two hours.
