Connecting to InnServices Water and Sewer

Steps to Install Municipal Water  or Sanitary from Property Line to a Residence

Once the watermain or sanitary service is in place at property line and confirmed live by InnServices you will be able to obtain a Town building permit for connection. This is an easy process with a few steps:

  • Once you submit your building permit application and Town staff have reviewed it, you will receive notification that the permit is ready for payment and pick-up. Pay the fees for your Building Permit Application and any outstanding fees required by InnServices at the permit pick-up time.
  • Have your servicing installer connect the line and call the Town for an inspection prior to backfilling and follow the requirements of the permit.
  • Municipal water piping, water meter, and if required a pressure relief valve, are required to be installed under Town By-laws and to Town Engineering Standards. All fixtures inside the home will be required to be connected to the municipal water supply. Should you have an existing well which you would like to maintain for other uses, the province requires that it must be disconnected from any water lines already connected to the municipal water. Once the municipal water line is connected to the home please contact InnServices to arrange for the installation of the water meter.
  • Municipal sanitary piping is required to be installed under Town bylaws, and to Town Engineering Standards. All sanitary drainage inside the home will be required to be connected to the municipal sanitary sewer and private septic system disconnected from the home. The private septic system will need to be abandoned as per municipal and provincial requirements.

Installing a new municipal  service requires an open excavation by a contractor from the property line to the house and some  internal house plumbing.
