In 2011 the Ontario Ministry of Infrastructure released “Building Together”, a long-term infrastructure plan for Ontario. The plan sets out a strategic framework to assist the Province and municipalities in managing road, water, wastewater and other assets to meet existing and growth needs.
In addition, the Province committed in this strategy to continued financial support for municipalities to repair and invest in new infrastructure. Part of the strategy included a requirement to develop asset management plans and public reporting by municipalities. Further, the Province has stated that these comprehensive asset management plans be completed by all municipalities as a prerequisite to applications for future grant programs.
The Town has completed two asset management plans including one on roads, stormwater, drinking water and wastewater along with another on parks and building assets.
The roads and stormwater asset management plan was approved at the February 5, 2014 Council Meeting,
The parks and buildings asset management plan was approved at the November 16, 2016 Council Meeting.
The Town of Innisfil asset management policy was approved at the June 26, 2019 Council Meeting.
